3 reasons people switch from Fathom to Logly

Reason 1

Fathom has no free plan

Logly is free up to 10,000 pageviews a month — permanently, not as a trial. For personal sites, portfolios, or low-traffic projects, paying $15/mo before you have any revenue is a meaningful difference.

Reason 2

Ad blocker bypass shouldn't require a DNS record

Fathom's bypass works but it requires setting up a custom domain, a DNS CNAME, and updating your script tag. Logly routes through a first-party endpoint by default — install the snippet and it works with Brave and uBlock immediately, nothing to configure.

Reason 3

The time you see is the time they actually spent

Logly pauses the timer when the visitor switches tabs or minimises the window. Fathom, like most analytics tools, measures from page load to page leave — which includes idle time. If a visitor opened your article, attended a 30-minute call, then came back to finish reading, Logly reports ~7 min, Fathom reports ~37 min.

Frequently asked questions

Fathom's script is smaller than Logly's — does that matter?

At 700 bytes vs under 1 KB, both are negligible. A typical JPEG thumbnail on your page is 20–50× larger. Neither will affect your Lighthouse score or Core Web Vitals. Script size stopped being a meaningful differentiator below 2 KB.

Fathom includes uptime monitoring — does Logly?

Not yet. If uptime alerts are important to you, Fathom bundles them in every plan which is a genuine advantage. Logly focuses on analytics only — for uptime monitoring you'd need a separate tool like BetterUptime or UptimeRobot alongside it.

Can I try Logly alongside Fathom before committing?

Yes. The Free plan is permanent — not a trial. You can run both scripts in parallel on your site for a few weeks and compare the numbers directly. There's no risk and no card required to start.

Is Logly as established as Fathom?

Fathom has been around since 2018 and has a strong reputation in the indie maker community. Logly is newer. If proven track record and a long-standing support history are your main criteria, Fathom is the safer choice today.
