3 reasons people switch from Plausible to Logly

Reason 1

Plausible doesn't have a free plan

If you're running a personal site, a side project, or a client site under 10,000 pageviews a month, Logly is free — no trial, no card, no expiry. Plausible gives you a 30-day trial then asks for $9/mo minimum.

Reason 2

Time on page means something different

Logly's tracker pauses when the tab goes to the background and resumes when the visitor comes back. The "3 min 42 sec" you see is time actually spent reading. Plausible measures from page load to navigation — including the time your tab sat open behind a meeting.

Reason 3

Ad blocker bypass is built-in, not a feature to configure

Plausible's proxy setup requires a custom domain, a DNS record, and a worker config. Logly routes everything through a first-party endpoint by default. Nothing to set up — it just works with Brave Shields and uBlock out of the box.

Frequently asked questions

If I'm already on Plausible, can I switch without losing my data?

Logly doesn't currently import historical data from Plausible. Your Plausible data stays in Plausible. You'd start fresh in Logly, which is a realistic trade-off if you're still in the early stage of a project. If multi-year historical data is critical for you, Plausible is the better fit right now.

Plausible is open source — can I self-host it for free?

Yes. If you have the infrastructure and are comfortable maintaining it, self-hosted Plausible is free. Logly is SaaS-only — no self-hosted option. If you need to keep data on your own servers for compliance reasons, Plausible (or Matomo) is the better choice.

Is Logly's ad blocker bypass actually reliable?

It was tested in May 2026 against Brave Shields (Standard and Aggressive) and Firefox with uBlock Origin + EasyPrivacy enabled. All events recorded correctly. The mechanism — a GET request via new Image().src to a first-party subdomain not on any block list — is the same pattern used by Plausible's proxy and Fathom.

What happens if I need more features than Logly offers today?

Plausible has a longer feature list: goals and funnels, email reports, integrations, CSV export. If you need those now, Plausible is the honest answer. Logly focuses on the metrics most people actually use — visitors, pages, referrers, real time on page — and adds features gradually without bloating the dashboard.
